What is Time Management?

Time management is defined as "the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between specific activities."

We all have countless tasks and activities we want to do throughout the day, tasks we don't really want to do but have to do (homework, studying, and chores). Then there are tasks we really want to do, but then don't have time to get to! (hanging out with friends, exercising, being outside, etc)

So, how can we take a 12-hour day, and make the most of it?

Time Management Tips!

1. Set goals - make a list of everything you need to get done for that day

2. Prioritize! - really take a look at each task and give them a priority which ones are more important

3. Set a time limit - when do you want to get each task done

4. Breaks are important! - don't burn yourself out; take the time to grab a snack, use the bathroom, or take a quick walk outside

5. Organize yourself - use a planner or a notebook to keep track of your to-do lists & assignments; use folders for important documents

6. Plan ahead - what will tomorrow look like? what about next week or next month?

Wait...why is there a section on note-taking??

Yes, I am sure you are thinking this right now, but don't click that back arrow!

Taking notes is one of the best ways to not only learn class material but also to remember it. How many times have you left class saying to yourself "what did we even talk about in that class? Man, Mrs. H sure loves to hear herself talk." Ok, maybe you don't say those exact words, but I bet there is some truth there.
